Now, when we talk about Hydro power, it is not only the cleanest form of energy (cleaner than solar power, I will explain why in next post) ) but it is also the cheapest electricity that is available.
So, if Nepal ever produced surplus hydro power that it had to export, will India say no thank you? If I am thinking like someone in power, I say that's a good problem to have...The question by then may not be whether India will buy, the question may instead be, do we have the infrastructure (transmission lines) to sell the power to India?

२० माघ, खिम्ती । प्रधानमन्त्री पुष्पकमल दाहाल ‘प्रचण्ड’ले भारत नकिन्ने आशंका गरेर विद्युत उत्पादनको गति रोक्न नहुने बताएका छन् ।
खिम्ती ढल्केबर २२० केभी विद्युत प्रसारण लाइनको बिहीबार उद्घाटन गर्दै प्रधानमन्त्री प्रचण्डले भने- ‘भारतले किन्दैन कि भनेर विद्युत उत्पादनको गति रोक्ने अभियानमा कतिपय मान्छेहरु लागेका छन, त्यस्ता भ्रमको पछि नलाग्नुहोला ।’
उनले नयाँ प्रशारण लाइन आयोजना देश विकासको कोशेढुंगा सावित हुने बताए । विश्वको ध्यान अहिले पानीबाट विद्युत उत्पादन गर्नेतर्फ अघि बढेको भन्दै प्रधानमन्त्री प्रचण्डले क्लीन इनर्जी र ग्रीन इनर्जीको विकल्पमा जलविद्युत इनर्जीलाई प्राथमिकतामा राख्नुपर्नेमा जोड दिए ।
प्रधानमन्त्री प्रचण्डले अबदेखि जलविद्युत आयोजनाको सँगसँगै प्रसारण लाईन निर्माणको कामलाई पनि तीब्रता दिने योजना सरकारले बनाएको उल्लेख गरे ।
‘एक दिनमै हुने काम एक महिना लगाउने चलन रहेछ । त्यसरी ठूला आयोजनाको काम प्रभावित गर्ने प्रचलन रोक्न बर्तमान सरकारले काम थालेको छ,’ प्रधानमन्त्रीले भने ।
नेपाललाई लोडसेडिङमुक्त गर्ने अभियानको नेतृत्व गर्ने ऊर्जामन्त्री, राज्यमन्त्री र प्राधिकरणका कार्यकारी निर्देशकलाई आफुले आवश्यक पर्ने जस्तोसुकै सहयोग गर्न पछि नपर्ने प्रतिवद्धता व्यक्त गरे ।
कार्यक्रममा ऊर्जामन्त्री जनार्दन शर्मा ‘प्रभाकर’ले नेपालको अलग-अलग प्रसारण प्रणालीलाई एकीकृत प्रसारण लाईनको रुपमा अघि बढाएको बताए । खिम्ती-ढल्केबर प्रसारण लाइनले अन्तरदेशीय बिद्युत आयात-निर्यातको सेतुको रुपमा काम गरेको उनको भनाइ छ ।
तीन वर्षमा निर्माण हुने परियोजनामा १७ वर्ष किन लाग्यो भन्ने प्रश्न गर्दै मन्त्री शर्माले अबदेखि जलविद्युत आयोजना तथा प्रसारण लाईन आयोजनाहरुको सर्वे डिजाईनको काम एक वर्षभित्रै सम्पन्न गर्ने गरी नीति बनाउन लागिएको जानकारी दिए ।
‘अब जलविद्युत आयोजनाको सर्भे मै १० वर्ष लाग्ने दिन सकिँदैछ । अब एकवर्षभित्र सर्भे गरिसक्नुपर्ने व्यवस्था हामी गर्दैछौं । यसबाट छिटो काम गर्न दबाव मात्रै होइन, प्रवर्द्धकलाई प्रेरणा पनि मिल्नेछ,’ शर्माले भने ।
उज्यालो अभियान कार्यक्रम देशमा लोडसेडिङ अन्त्य गर्ने अभियान मात्र नभई राष्ट्रलाई औद्योगीकरणको दिशामा अघि बढाएर समृद्ध नेपाल निर्माण गर्ने अभियान भएको मन्त्री शर्माले उल्लेख गरे ।
नेपालको पानी जनताको लगानी कार्यक्रमले लगानीको प्राथमिकता नेपाली जनताकै हुनुपर्ने उद्देश्य राखेको भन्दै उनले लगानीको दोस्रो प्राथमिकता आन्तरिक ऋण र तेश्रो प्राथमिकतामा मात्र बैदेशिक लगानी भित्र्याउनुपर्ने धारणा राखे ।
मन्त्री शर्माले लालपूर्जा बिना नै सुकुम्वासी र स्याउले झुपडीमा बस्ने नागरिकले पनि बत्ती बाल्न पाउने नीति ऊर्जा मन्त्रालयले बनाएको जानकारी दिए ।
